On 15th January, Jason Sugarman Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the Lewes Constituency met Martin Richards the Chief Constable of Sussex Police.
Jason Sugarman said: “I wanted to hear directly from the Chief Constable specifically about what issues concern him whether our Chief Constable and his officers are getting all the support necessary to ensure the Police service is able to deliver in our area”
“With financial constraints everywhere it is imperative that we ensure front line services are not affected. I have held meetings with Dominic Grieve MP Shadow Justice Secretary and Edward Garnier, Shadow Attorney General to discuss the levels of police funding.
Manpower levels and keeping police on the streets and not at a desk doing paperwork are a priority. As a legal aid Barrister, specialising in crime cases, I am very aware how difficult the Police’s work is and if elected, will do all I can to support them and fight hard to ensure we have a properly resourced Police force”.
