Tax

Jason Sugarman wants to see our nation’s tax burden reduced. He is concerned at how Labour has raised our taxes and made our nation less competitive as our international rivals lower their taxes. He is also angry at Gordon Brown’s decision to double income tax for the lowest earners from April 2008.

A Conservative government would share the proceeds of economic growth between extra investment in public services and reductions in taxes.

The Conservatives will change the tax system from taxing families to taxing pollution. We will change inheritance tax rules so only millionaires pay. We will abolish stamp duty for nearly every first time buyer to help mend the property ladder. These changes will be paid for by a levy on foreigners living in the UK who pay no tax.

We will make taxes simpler, fairer and lower.
