No Incinerator
Jason Sugarman has long been opposed to the Newhaven Incinerator. He voted against it as a district councillor when the original architects of the incinerator, the Lib Dems, first came up with the idea. He continues to oppose the plans to build the incinerator.
“I said no when the Lib Dems first proposed the incinerator and I still say no now,” says Jason. “There are better ways to handle waste but while the Lib Dems continue to leave us with a second rate recycling service the threat of the incinerator will not go away.”
“I voted against the incinerator back when the Lib Dems were supporting it. Newhaven is the wrong place for the incinerator and the technology is also wrong – we should be recycling our waste. It’s even going to be built on a floodplain.”
What Jason has done:
- Urged East Sussex County Council to look at greener alternatives to incineration
- Voted against the incinerator when he was a local district councillor
- Wrote to government ministers urging them to block the incinerator
- Challenged the Lib Dems over their recycling failures, a failure which is helping those arguing for an incinerator
